I've been waiting a long time for mxTextTools 2.1, and I guess I have to accept that it's not going to move forward and take it under my own (rather over-crowded) wing if SimpleParse is going to move forward.
I'd really rather not, but a patch-set for a multiple-years-old "experimental" release that's only linked from an old mailing-list post is not a good distribution mechanism (as was pointed out to me (again) today).
So, mostly likely need to create a simpleparse.texttools sub-package and move the non-recursive 2.1 in there.

I've got (I think) an old version which I already made pretty much stack free (among other things). I sent it back to the author about 3 years ago, but he never merged it. Email me where you want it to be sent (pmaupin@gmail.com) and I'll try to find it, package it up, and send it to you.
Regards,
Pat
Oh, I already have a "stackless" version, it's just a matter of moving it into SimpleParse and clearing out all the unnecessary stuff from the setup and support files.
Having just realised that I'll need the non recursive mxtext to handle a recursive language definition, I'll very much appreciate the work
cheers,
