Don't have time to write this up fully (4 minutes to starting work), but finished reading the book last night. Interesting packaging of the "proportion as metaphor" approach to discuss various aspects of design. It felt a little stretched, but then that's likely because I discuss those issues separately in my treatment.
One section that was neat was the treatment of "limbic appeal". I didn't treat the topic in sufficient detail in my thesis, mostly because I was focussing on its effect on perception (i.e. it was discussed as foundational, rather than as an immediate tool). Smith looks, instead, at its use in design practice.
Anyway, late to work now. Back to the silicon grindstone.

Yes, only references in dicti onaries are replaced, so hold ing references in lists, tuple s, etceteras keeps them alive.
