I've just spent the last few hours building event-logging functionality into the VOIP front-end. Turned out to be far less painful than I'd thought it would be. There were a few places where I had to do some funky code to provide a formatted note regarding what had been done, but in most places the log just naturally fit in right next to the user-notification message generation.
The event log is one of those little traces you see at the bottom of a view in, for example, a ticket-tracking system, which shows every change made to the item being viewed. They're useful for both debugging and resolving disputes regarding who did what and when.
Anyway, I think I'm well and truly finished for the evening, so I suppose I'll head off to bed.
