Replacing the fried monitor (Rose's little monitor doesn't cut it for all-day working...)

Vindaloo.
After being cursed one evening (not by me, I was hoping to get another 6 months out of it) my monitor refused to turn on the next morning. It was a nice $1600 Sony G500, now quite old, and beginning to fail in multiple ways (and, honestly, becoming quite hard on the eyes). Anyway, need to get a new monitor now. I'm tempted by the 24" ones (my eyes could use the rest), but I'll likely just go for one of the $500 20" ones.
I'm thinking about the Viewsonic VX2025WM, mostly based on the Ars Technica recommendation for the "Hot Rod" box. I don't know the ats-systems people, I've normally gone through either CanadaComputers.ca (now defunct, apparently) or TigerDirect.ca. Oh well, hopefully not scammers.

Silly that, yes, it is canadacomputers.com and they do still seem to be around. They even have both of the models I'm considering in-stock. I'm considering the Samsung SyncMaster 204B, mostly because of the higher resolution and non-widescreen aspect ratio. Also, it doesn't have built-in speakers, which seem kind of pointless to me given that I have a decent speaker system hooked up already. Thanks for the clue-stick upsides.
