This week we tried a few games of pool (I still won ;) )

Grams and I played 1 game of snooker and then 3 of pool. Going to have to brush up on the rules of pool, it's been way too long, and there's at least 2 major variants that we're conflating. Still working on getting Gentoo set up for real work. Eric3 (a Python IDE) is crashing ...

Gentoo is not for the impatient (More than 12 hours to compile XFree86 and KDE)

Granted, my machine is old, but that's 12 hours! And that still leaves me needing Mozilla and OpenOffice, both of which are apparently huge installs (though I can use the machine to some extent while those are going on). Need to figure out how to get the binary packages working if this is going to ...

Back to work with me (Gentoo is built, but not yet booting)

Just finished the build process for Gentoo. Unfortunately, bootpart/nt-bootloader doesn't seem to want to load the new GRUB image. Can't spare the time to worry about it now, as there's a few things that need to get done before people get in to work tomorrow if we are to seem spectacularly responsive :) .

Oooh, slow... (Maybe should have chosen a stage 2 install...)

The installation is now compiling gcc (a C compiler), and taking it's merry time about it. Something seems to be blocking rsync, so all of the packages are getting downloaded via http. I gather it will take at least another solid day of processing to finish (since apparently XFree86, KDE and Mozilla are all slow ...
