I Have Looked

I have looked
It wasn't my intention
Her hands drew my attention
Tying up some knitted thing
Unleashing some dark knotted beast
I had thought locked deep within
Fascinated wordlessly
By the trivial in compare
With her mind and heart
Yet still I could barely push away
The unheard almost-thoughts
That crowded round behind my ears
School my lower self
In respect and composure
And I might have made it
Might have been a better man
Had not another faultless action
Bending down as women do
Drawn my unwilled attention
Demanding I admit perfection
Before I dragged it off in shame
