You give eternally
So you are loved
Made an icon
To sell cola
Children cry your name
With lists of toys attached
They ignore your power
Darker stories from the past
Of powerful magics
Serving implacable justice
They would rather not know
The force behind their favourite myth
So they imagine you fat and jolly ...!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->
Perilous Reflection

What we need is not complex
Food, shelter, air and water
Life is simple and direct
Though red of tooth and claw
To feel out what we want however
Takes more than lifetime's span
Of deep thought, somber introspection
and that most perilous reflection
For those who do the most
To conquer this great puzzle ...!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->
Twenty Feet Apart

Trees on a hill
Twenty feet apart
Can be patient
Knowing they will grow together
But what of you and I?
Inkscape seems to have hosed itself (Or maybe some glibc problems...)

Can't sleep (too hot, too sweaty, too tired), so thought I'd work on a personal "business" card. That is, one to hand out to people interested in me, for whatever reason (academic, personal), not Vex, or VexTech, or Cinemon. I want the design as minimalistic as possible. Basically just my name, VRPlumber.com, and my telephone ...
On Invitations Now Passed

Maybe I could have stretched
Though it's really not my thing
Worn braces and new shoes
Or so my thoughts run now
Imagining the baking clay
And I'll admit it
High-cut skirts and briefer tops
It doesn't seem so bad a day
Weaving back and forth
To have a little play

How many have there been?
Those great conversations
Not merely grand, but truly great
Beyond sleep or thoughts of work tomorrow
Rambling thoughts shared
Nights caressed from both sides with gentle words
Minds entralled by learning
As much as mere ideas
How many souls connected and then lost?

Where are the Faerie Ladies?

Why am I cursed with mortal women
And yet further cursed without them
So solid in their dark forbidden flesh
They crush mere men with cruel haste
I retain my structure but cannot approach
My sylvan bones held together
With dark incantations
Seem to reject the advance
While yearning for their touch
Where are the ...!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->
On lightning detection equipment (I know, I know, what does this have to do with anything...)

Reading about the crash at Pearson Airport this afternoon, there's this wonderful quote from a CBC article:
At mid-afternoon Tuesday, a spokesperson with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority said lightning was causing technical problems with the airport's lightning-detection system.
Yes, yes, I understand that it's a perfectly reasonable statement, but doesn't it just sound ...!-->!-->
Flirty Pillows

On the corner I hear them
From my downy bed
With flirty little pillows
Young bucks and does
Philosophy and lycanthropy
Or maybe it's biology
Drives them to stand and talk
Outside my windows
Too loud to sleep
Too soft to make a scene
So I lie on my old poster bed
So many years ...!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->!-->
In darker moments?

Did I know her
In darker moments
I wonder
What sleight or pain
Poisoned the well
Forgotten enemies and friends
Lying about it
Accusing me
As if I knew her
Or could change it
If I did
