Oops, wrong on the tax due date (Are due in 2.5 hours, not 26.5)

Likely not too many people using my blog as the official source for Canadian tax deadlines, but just in case... smarten up people!
Happy that the taxes are simpler? (Or depressed that my investment income totalled less than $100 for a year!)

Snaking,
Vindaloo.
Took a quick trip up to the bank between helping D'Arcy and starting Cinemon work today. Taxes are due tomorrow evening in Canada, and I'd not been able to find any T5 (investment income) slips from the banks with which I do business.
So, I trundled over and asked them to print out some T5s ...!-->!-->

Visited grams today (final score 3:2 for me). Then came home and did a few hours of work on the ctypes wrapping, mostly focussing on the auto-generation half of the equation. Then out to coffee with Shane and Brendan. Always fun talking with them, Brendan's doing his doctorate in history, so always has interesting things ...
An infectious book meme (Or at least, I'm *told* it's infectious...)

"To create multiple renderings with different schemes using the same view, create several identical views with different names."
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.

Food would be useful (Cookies and crackers and M&Ms don't quite make a balanced diet...)

Haven't yet been out to buy supplies, so we've been ploughing through garbage food around here. Rosey bought 4 bags of M&Ms. I finished off a few score cookies. Not good when you don't get enough exercise to burn off the calories.
Interestingly, as I was composing an email to XXX, I spent rather a ...!-->!-->

By the time I got home this morning I was pretty much exhausted, so I spent the day on computer maintenance and a nap. Going to have to work almost 1.5 days of time deficit off this week (on top of doing my taxes).
Firefox seems functional again (loads, can display menus and dialogues). Yay! ...!-->!-->
Oh, another idea for assistive technology (Embed RFID chips in all road signs...)

Along the lines of the textual interface client for the blind...
If you've got this little machine working away for you, why not add a very powerful RFID reader. Add RFID tags to every new street and construction sign that have an ID and a typecode describing the message on the sign.
In the initial ...!-->!-->!-->!-->
Assistance for the blind (Universal bluetooth interfaces...)

Just reading a Wired News article on the need for assistive technologies. Here's a thought:
Define a protocol using bluetooth, or some other proximity-based system, such that a "personal client" device can signal to nearby machines that it requires textual interaction (thinking here primarily of displays for the blind). The machines have a very cheap ...!-->!-->
Thoughts on wish lists... (Je pense...)

As XXX and I get to know each other a bit more, I've begun thinking rather deeply about my wish list. I've just reviewed it, and yes, all of those things are attractive to me.
Thing I didn't consider before:
- Fiscal responsibility and compatability
- Kindness to animals
- Methods of recreation and enjoyment
- Musical interests ...
Ah the joys of car-less-ness in the hinterlands (It gets expensive and/or awkward very fast...)

Well, turns out that the only one available to take YYY to Ottawa is lil' ol' me. We're borrowing a friend (Brenda)'s car and I'm driving her (and likely Fuzzy Bear) in to Ottawa in a couple of hours. I'm always a little apprehensive about borrowing someone's car, but when it's someone you don't even ...
