I spent the bulk of the afternoon and evening playing with the developer's image for the laptop. Among other things, I sat down and tried to write a HelloWorld application using "best practises" as far as I understand them.

We have a tentative booking to have an XO (OLPC laptop) at the PyGTA presentation on Tuesday. I'm also going to try to get some time to both cut down and defragment the image so that it doesn't take as much disk space (I'd like to get it down to 2GB within the image and ...

Handling dividends (I am *so* not an accountant...)

Sat down with a friend who's an accountant and tried to get them to explain how to do dividends and year-end closing for a company on the accounting side. As near as I can figure it, recording the dividends works like this:
Dividend Expense (the account I was missing) gets a ${DIVIDEND} expense, Dividend Liability ...!-->!-->

I've also got a torrent seeded on LinuxTracker, but that was just as slow (though that's mostly because I only had one person attached, so bittorrent was basically just creating an http download stream).
