Why no solstice party? (The crowd asks)

Had coffee with Shane, Brendan and Lara (who showed up even though she was somewhat sick) on Monday. Beautiful, deep conversation, (as normal), ranging all across history, philosophy, psychology, the arts and sciences. It's conversations like that which I live for. But the question came up "are you having a solstice party", and then "why not?" when the query was answered.

Unlike the weekly dinners I used to have (way back, 4 years ago now), the solstice/equinox parties weren't frequent enough for people to make them part of their daily lives (we used to have 2 parties/week in our little social circle, one at my place, one at Dave's), and try as I might, I couldn't seem to get people "into" the whole celestial theme enough to have them remember them (and, I was rather bad at making the days consistent for these parties).

We had 2 or 3 in a row where only 2 or 3 people showed up. Pleasant enough, but not really parties.

In the end, though, I need to have more parties to have more conversations. Human kindness is my drug of choice, and I'm suffering withdrawal pains these days.
