Yay! A tiny little laptop! (Really very, very tiny...)

The OLPC Laptop prototype arrived today. Cute as I remembered it. Spent the bulk of the afternoon updating then testing the software. Ran into a few hardware issues (discolouration when touched by Soni, one button sticky), have to submit bugs on those tomorrow.
The Library is beginning to show up on the builds. Haven't yet tried to get it online on our WPA-encrypted network, guess I'll have to tomorrow. They keyboard really is way too small for an adult to touch-type on. At least, a full-sized one. I know that's partly to keep adults from appropriating them, but I worry about the 12-16 year olds. I guess they'll wind up one-handing or hunt-and-pecking it. Anyway, it's going to mean that I likely can't use the laptop as my primary machine as a way to test the platform.
Anyway, as fun as playing with the hardware has been, I have to get some software work done tonight using the emulator so that I can spend much of tomorrow on the billing-system stuff with Soni.

Sure, but then I'm not really testing the platform for usability, durability and portability... probably wind up with a portable usb keyboard eventually to be somewhat usable.
