So far today, my entire useful output has been getting the SIP demo set up on the laptop. Um, argh.

VNC was a serious PITA. Internet Explorer (they don't have a real browser on the machine) messed up every single .tar.gz I downloaded. Cygwin's tar and gzip kept crashing in such a way that VNC wouldn't display the "you just crashed dialogs", so no way to get out of the crash other than (as I eventually discovered) using task manager to do a "switch to" to dialog. Then it turns out that XP doesn't have a straightforward way to alter the ACL for a directory any more (at least, it's changed completely from the Win2K method).

Wound up having to debug a problem on the laptop with the demo by uploading the project to vrplumber.com and then downloading it about 10 or 15 times. Eventually realised I could just upload/download the library.zip file, but only after quite a few iterations.

In short, a very frustrating day. I should have just gone up to Aurora... but then I wouldn't have had my dev machine handy to do the actual work of fixing the bug that appeared. Guess I should have let Bryan come down and bring the laptop with him.

Still have to get the presentation done for Tuesday. At least that will be more relaxing (teaching is so much more fun than programming).
