Documentation and VMWare Builds (Finally automated...)

As of this evening, the process of creating the VMWare/VirtualBox images for the OLPC should be entirely automatic. I've cronned the process up to run every 6 hours, so it should catch most new releases (it only downloads the latest release (and only if it hasn't done it before)), a couple may slip through, but if so they were rather rapidly superseded anyway.

Rest of the day spent on more Developer documentation and then some OLPCGames hacking. Haven't been able to make any progress on the video stuff. GStreamer wants a separate X window into which to draw, but SDL doesn't, AFAIK allow for creating a new sub-window (at least, not through Pygame), and GTK has rebuffed my attempts to use a GTK window as a child of my "socket" window (the SDL window).

The right solution would seem to be making GStreamer allow you to specify a region in a window into which to write, as with OpenGL. Given that xvimagesink already supports scaling/stretching it seems like a fairly straightforward change.

Anyway, because of a developer-relations meeting Wednesday I'm having to move my non-OLPC day to tomorrow, so I should head off to bed and be rested for that.

[Update] Sorry, should have been clear on where the builds are; see the VMWare page on the wiki for instructions and links.

    I downloaded over 5 or 6 images and followed instructions for setting Virtualbox virtual machine and I still can't run not single image!<br />
    <br />
    I get grub menue, and no matter which choice I make I see kernel starts to load and then I only get a black screen and a dead virtual machine :(<br />
    <br />
    Has anybody made any image run ok with VirtualBox 1.5.2 ?

    Both of VMware and VirtualBox are dead on my machine at the moment, so I can't really provide any useful advice at the moment.
