Spent the afternoon sitting down to write a little application for the OLPC. In particular, wanted to create a multi-player Reversi game. Just a simple little program that would let 2 people connect and play the game.

The specs page now lists the processor as the Geode LX, which includes a floating point processor and both L1 and L2 cache. Had a pretty good first external-developer-focused presentation at PyGTA tonight. Adrian brought along the hardware (thanks Adrian! you saved me from getting lynched). The cleaned up version of the Developer's Desktop image (still Gentoo based) is now available on LinuxTracker. This version is only 923MB, 50MB less if you don't take the portage disk. There's not much difference between this and the v1 disk other than the packaging (1/3 the size, portage optional). I've burned 10 copies ...

Guillermo's suggestion to use a sparse-file based portage has given me an idea. I can simply create a second VMWare disk that will, if present, be loaded into the system, otherwise /usr/portage will be empty. People who want to update or add software to the system can download the portage disks.
