So this is age

Ah, so this is age
When new adventures summon
Full of danger and excitement
When new lovers beckon
With unbridled lust in their eyes
You check the time
Avoid their gaze
And mutter something to escape

They want Justice

The pools of history
Are filled with enmity
Dark plans and evil plots
Revolution by haves and nots
Iron wheels of economy
Married with brutality

In hearts robbed of hope
Beneath the hanging rope
Can you wonder at their cries
In the deadness of their lives

In a crowded square
Hate fills the air
The ...

It's quite hard to debug past the ctypes layer (Arguments are marshalled at a lower level than GDB seems to understand...)

Since I didn't figure I'd actually get to sleep, decided to spend some time trying to figure out why the glutInit function is failing. The function is failing when GLUT tries to copy one of the strings in the argv array. Unfortunately, I can't see what that array is (easily), as the ctypes stuff has ...

Trial now has a default timeout for test cases (Yes, yes, I know, I wasn't going to work any more this evening...)

I've been getting annoyed with twisted.trial all day, as I look at test results declaring that there's a problem in test case <lambda>. So I decided (unable to just sit about) that I'd update to the lastest Twisted SVN root and produce a fix for it.

Apparently someone else was annoyed by the effect and ...

Another big-ticket item added to the feature-list (Long day's coding, though)

One of the things that kinda freaks me out is just how huge a feature set we're packing into this product. The one I built today is available from one of our competitors as a stand-alone tool that costs as much as our entire product. Sure, it'll take a few more days of work to ...

The Rain of Tiny Blows

She makes cold marble soft with hardened steel
Long days in practiced craft of violent action
Run a hand across her downy flank
Try to feel the rain of tiny blows
That caught this Roman maiden in the stone

Academics shouldn't blog? (Though I try to avoid blogosphere auto-wanking...)

I know, I know, who reads this blog for meta-comments about blogging? No one, yet I can't help it...

There's an article on Ars which includes this little quote:
Ultimately, I think the answer to this dilemma is pretty clear: graduate students simply should not blog, and if they do blog they should never do ...

More finishing and polishing (LivePages get a little closer to real-world usability...)

Day was filled with reversion of some changes on Friday, and then moving forward to get the LivePages looking and working more like the Zope TAL Template wrappers. Quite a bit of housekeeping in there as well. Toward the end of the day I modified the trigger LivePage so that as you enter trigger values ...

Muscles Sliding Under Skin

It's really just muscles sliding under skin
Maybe a well-placed bit of fat
Lush roundness to smooth the curves

Yet it pulls the eye off course
Perfect geometry as line folds into shadow
Folds again into still-hidden geometries

You want to sketch, to freeze that moment
Capture the mind in the transition forever
But then ...

Days of curry and defeat (And slumber)

Had a rather pleasant evening hanging around and chatting with Lara on Saturday. However, went rather late, so I was not in particularly good form come Sunday afternoon for the game with grams. She managed to edge me out and win the tournament 3 games to 2. She snookered me twice on the black! Evil ...
